The Lighthouse Project

a mentor

All it takes is 4 hours a month to be a Lighthouse Mentor. Apply today!

Our Programme

Our pilot project saw 30 street children being mentored by 30 mentors over the span of 8 months. In 2014, we expanded to 100 children and 100 mentors, working with children in partnership with Apne Aap Women's Collective that supports girl children in Mumbai's red light district, and Akanksha Foundation that works with BMC schools to impart quality education. This year we look to expand to 380 mentors and 380 children across 5 locations with our most recent NGO partner, Muktangan.

Focus Areas

Apply online to become a Lighthouse Mentor. All applicants go through an in person interview, training and orientation session. Selected mentors are paired with a child from our Partner NGOs based on gender, location and interests.

An extensive Lighthouse Activity Bank is provided to help kick start the mentor-mentee relationship. With constant support and guidance provided by the Lighthouse team, mentors forge strong relationships with their mentees. An extensive Lighthouse Activity Bank based on the program focus areas is provided as a resource enabling mentors to customize sessions based on their child's interests and development needs.
