Our Program
We piloted our program in 2013 with 30 street children being mentored by 30 Mentors over a span of 8 months. In 2014, we expanded to 100 children and 100 Mentors, working in partnership with Apne Aap Women’s Collective that supports girl children in Mumbai’s red light district and Akanksha Foundation that adopts BMC schools to impart quality education. By 2016, our partnerhsips grew to include the Muktangan Foundation which also adopts BMC schools to impart education. Today, The Lighthouse Project has grown to involve 500 Mentors and 1000 children across 8 locations with our NGO partners being, Akanksha & Muktangan that provides child-centred, inclusive English-medium schooling to under-resourced children.

An extensive Lighthouse Activity Bank based on the program focus areas is provided as a resource to help kick-start the Mentor-Mentee relationship and to enable Mentors to customize sessions based on their child’s interests and development needs. With constant support and guidance provided by the Lighthouse team, Mentors forge strong relationships with their Mentees.
